Lead Crystal Products

In general, fine lead crystal products contain lead. The presence of lead in crystal is what distinguishes it from ordinary glass. Lead crystal is manufactured to meet strict quality standards which, among other things, assure that it is appropriate use with foods and beverages.

We recommend that all lead crystal be washed with a liquid dish soap and water before initial use. For lead crystal products used for the storage of food and beverages, such as decanters, we also recommend that they initially be filled overnight with a mixture of equal parts vinegar and water and then rinsed. We also generally do not recommend that lead crystal products be used by young children. These simple steps will help minimize potential exposure to lead and allow you to enjoy your lead crystal products with confidence.
